- Relic recycled plant pot
- Object name(s):
- garden and horticultural equipment; plant pot
- Brief description:
- A recycled polypropylene plant pot in the 'kaboom' colourway, made by Relic, the own brand of Precious Plastic Lancaster. This start-up is connected to the international Precious Plastic global movement which seeks to create community-centric plastic artisans, and was originally developed by Dave Hakkens as part of his studies with the Design Academy in Eindhoven, Holland in 2012. Using open-source machinery and designs, low-volume, craft-based businesses are supported in the collection, shredding and recycling of waste plastics into new products. It is estimated that approximately 1000 people, groups and organisations are currently working with Precious Plastic machines and knowledge as at 2021. The Precious Plastic Lancaster team source their polypropylene from bottle tops, hangers and broken Tupperware, with the swirls and layers within each plant pot being unique.
