- Brief description:
- Gold plated silver disc with various images in relief and painted enamel. At the centre of the disc is a shield infilled with dark blue enamel and with a gold image of the Tower of London. Around the shield are four painted colour enamel images of saints on a circular background of relief foliage. Top left of the shield is St. Anne in green and white enamel, top right is her daughter St. Mary in pink and white enamel, seated and with a book. Bottom right of the shield is St. George on horseback slaying the dragon in white, green and red enamel and finally bottom left is St. Dunstan in red and white enamel. (Cont.): Filling the disc are four relief images - a ship at the top and bottom and a steam engine to the left and right. Above and below the disc are two gold plated silver panels both painted in colour enamel, the top panel with the Tower of London, and the bottom with Tower Bridge. Connecting the panels on each side of the disc are two curved bars in gold plated silver and infilled with dark blue enamel with text reading 'BOROUGH OF STEPNEY / LODGE No. 2884'. The whole device is framed with a foliage motif in gold plated silver.

Around the shield are four painted colour enamel images of saints on a circular background of relief foliage. Top left of the shield is St. Anne in green and white enamel, top right is her daughter St. Mary in pink and white enamel, seated and with a book. Bottom right of the shield is St. George on horseback slaying the dragon in white, green and red enamel and finally bottom left is St. Dunstan in red and white enamel. Hanging device (cont.): Filling the disc are four relief images - a ship at the top and bottom and a steam engine to the left and right. Above and below the disc are two gold plated silver panels both painted in colour enamel, the top panel with the Tower of London, and the bottom with Tower Bridge. Connecting the panels on each side of the disc are two curved bars in gold plated silver and infilled with dark blue enamel with text reading 'BOROUGH OF STEPNEY / LODGE No. 2884'. The whole device is framed with a foliage motif in gold plated silver. Pin: Vertical.

The jewel is oval with a dark blue translucent plastic centre on which is a device for a Past District Grand Sword Bearer, being a pair of gold coloured metal crossed swords tied by a ribbon. The centre is framed by a border with polished rims and matt interior with text in relief around the top reading 'EAST AFRICA'.
